Medical Termination
Dr Nicole Samuel, Dr Edwina Brown and Dr Atari Metcalfe are able to provide medical termination of pregnancy. Unplanned pregnancies are common and happen to people of all ages and from all backgrounds. In Australia, approximately 25% of pregnancies are unplanned, of which one-third end in abortion.
Medical abortion is a safe and effective method of terminating pregnancies between 5-9 weeks gestation. It involves taking a tablet that blocks the hormone required for the pregnancy to continue and then a second medication to cause the uterus to contract and expel the pregnancy.
An initial assessment appointment is required to arrange investigations and determine suitability. This can be done over the phone or face to face.
